Cathy Stewart – Owner of the World of Water Stores on Pembina Hwy. & Dakota St. Before becoming a World of Water franchisee, Cathy was employed at the Royal Bank for 30 years in various positions, including client impact roles and management. She received exceptional training at the bank in areas of customer sales, service, retention, and relationship building, and taught professional sales training programs to other bankers. In May of 2000, Cathy had the opportunity to leave the Royal Bank and fulfill her life long dream of self-employment. Cathy researched several franchise opportunities and decided on a World of Water Franchise because she believed in the product and she saw bottled water as an expanding industry. With conviction, determination, and a lot of guts, Cathy & her husband Bob mortgaged their home and purchased the Dakota store on September 1, 2000. In 2005, she & Bob purchased the store on Pembina Highway. Cathy’s goal as a business owner is to emulate her late father’s business acumen and follow her own ethics developed and honed at the Royal Bank. Cathy attributes much of her success to her business values: - Always have your “customer eyes” on
- Develop relationships
- Deliver more than you promise
- Never compromise your business ethics
- Keep to the basics of our core products & services
Customer service is her passion and she is continuously learning to be better. Cathy has always been a strong supporter of women competing successfully in whatever walk of life they choose. In this regard, she has been very active with the YM/YWCA Women of Distinction Award Dinner for 10 years. She has been privileged to chair the organizing committee, the selection committee, and the overall event. In 2004, Cathy was honoured to have received the Building Business Award in The Manitoba Woman Entrepreneur of the Year program. Cathy is the Vice President of the Southside Ladies Golf League (the largest ladies league in the Province), and the Chair of the Ladies Open. She is also the President of the Winnipeg Business Network Club. |
