Dear World of Water Volunteers and Supporters;
I wanted to take some time to pass along to each and everyone of you our appreciation. The support of World of Water is hugely important to us as it forms an integral part of the team that makes the Manitoba Marathon work. The success, enjoyed by the Manitoba Marathon, has only been possible because of the support we receive from companies like yours - companies committed to a healthy lifestyle for all, including people living with an intellectual disability. Manitoba Marathon has grown to nearly 14,000 participants and over 2000 volunteers plus thousands of spectators - that would not have happened had we not enjoyed the support from your volunteer team and your stores. Through your support we provide clean, safe water to our participants and to our volunteers. That support is immense and is very much appreciated.
Volunteers are the backbone of the Manitoba Marathon. Without them, we simply could not exist. The volunteers at mile 22 are key to the success of each and every participant in the half, full and relay marathon. These participants are, in some cases, struggling to finish meeting their personal goal to finish their distance. Volunteers in the back end of the course are the lift that is needed for these participants to continue on. Thank you so much.
It is our pleasure to work with World of Water and all those associated with the company. We have become the third largest event of our kind in Canada - no small feat - because of you. We have raised nearly $5million to open homes and avenues to projects that support people living with an intellectual disability, proving to them that they are welcome in our community - because of you. For a person who has lived their life in an institution with nothing to call their own, your support translates into a life they can live in their own home surrounded by their own possessions. Thank you.

Since 1976, World of Water has been the exclusive producer of their Dewdrop brand bottled water, and during that time, the product has remained unchanged. Dr. Weil who routinely appears on Oprah, Larry King Live and the Today Show, and who has authored five #1 New York Times Best sellers on health and wellness, is an outspoken proponent of distilled water. When asked about the pH of distilled water, Weil responds, “As far as acidity goes, distilled water is close to a neutral pH and has no effect on the body's acid/base balance. Distilled water is the purest form of water. It’s also the kind of water I drink.” With respect to minerals in water Weil continues, “While it's true that distillation removes minerals as it eliminates various other contaminants from water, we don't know that the human body can readily absorb minerals from water. We get our minerals from food, not water”. Other experts, such as Dr. Charles Mayo of the Mayo Clinic, agree with Weil that the inorganic minerals (aka ‘dissolved rock’) in water cannot be used by the body, and that these minerals can actually harm the body over time.
For more than 33 years, Dewdrop has been the water of choice for active, health conscious consumers. In 2010, Dewdrop has again been chosen as the exclusive water for the 2010 Manitoba Marathon, ensuring that all runners receive the purest water possible for peak athletic performance.

Mike Johnston and his students at R.B. Russell School have recently completed one ‘sizzling’ project. Mike, who teaches welding and metal fabrication courses, worked with his students to convert a 1953 Chevy Bel-Air into a fully functioning BBQ complete with storage draws and a bar fridge. The ‘Car-BQ’ also has a hitch so that it can be towed and used anywhere making it the ultimate tailgating grill. Parts used to create the Car-BQ total $5000.00 but as it is the school’s policy not to make any profit on their projects this classic cooking machine is being raffled off. There are only 1000 tickets for the Car-BQ and they are available for $5.00 each. Lisa Meisner, Mike’s mother-in-law, owns the World of Water at 1925 Portage Ave. in Winnipeg and she has some tickets available at her location if anyone is interested. The draw will take place on Sept.10, 2010.
